It has just been announced that MT PBS will air a Nitty Gritty Dirt Band & Friends special on Saturday evening, March 5th. This should be a great show with bluegrass stars including Vince Gill, Allison Kraus, Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas among the country artists performing. I am not a big fan of the Dirt Band itself as their few performance successes were simply covering the hits of others like Jerry Jeff Walker and Buddy Holly. The two Circle CDs were a different story as they featured not the Dirt Band itself, but other great performers doing their greatest hits. It appears they will follow this approach with the TV special. You can bet a CD/DVD will be forthcoming as well. Don't miss it on March 5th.
